Pengaruh Health Education Audiovisual Berbasis Teori Caring Kristen M. Swanson terhadap Tingkat Kecemasan dan Tekanan Darah Pasien Pre Operasi Elektif

Surgery is a potential or actual threat to integrity that causes physiological and psychological reactions. Psychological problems such as anxiety can lead to delays or even cancellations of surgery. The purpose of this study was to analyse the effect of audiovisual health education based on Christian M. Swanson's theory of caring on the anxiety levels and blood pressure of elective preoperative patients. The research design was research and development (R&D) in stages 1 and 2, a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test control group design, with the independent variable being audiovisual health education based on Christian M. Swanson's caring theory and the dependent variables being anxiety levels and blood pressure. The respondents in this study were elective preoperative patients using purposive sampling with a total of 60 respondents. This study was conducted from 6 August 2024 to 16 October 2024. The instrument of observation of patient satisfaction with nursing care was used for the independent variable, and the dependent variable used the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS). Data analysis used the independent t-test and Wilcoxon signed rank test. The results of the Wilcoxon signed rank test on the description of pre-test and post-test anxiety in the treatment group showed a significant effect with p = 0,000 compared to the control group with p = 0,218. The Wilcoxon signed rank test on systolic blood pressure pre-test and post-test in the control group (p = 0,003) showed a significant effect on systolic blood pressure, but in the treatment group, systolic and diastolic blood pressure and the control group's diastolic blood pressure showed no effect. There was an effect of Christian M. Swanson's caring theory-based audiovisual health education on the anxiety of elective preoperative patients, but it was not proven to have a significant effect on the blood pressure of elective preoperative patients.
