Focus and Scope

Jurnal Gema Keperawatan, published by the Department of Nursing, Poltekkes Kemenkes Denpasar, is a scientific journal that aims to disseminate scholarly works in the field of nursing.

The journal accepts manuscripts in the form of research articles, including quantitative and qualitative studies, literature reviews, and case studies. The scope of nursing fields covered by this journal includes:

  • Community Nursing
  • Mental Health Nursing
  • Pediatric Nursing
  • Maternity Nursing
  • Medical-Surgical Nursing

Peer Review Process

The peer review policy of Jurnal Gema Keperawatan is as follows:

    • All submitted manuscripts undergo a review process conducted by reviewers.
    • The review process applies a blind review system, meaning that reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and authors do not know the identity of the reviewers.
    • During the review process, reviewers evaluate the consistency and alignment between the title, abstract, discussion (findings), and conclusions. In addition, reviewers assess the novelty, scientific impact, and the relevance and adequacy of the references used.

Publication Frequency

Published twice a year, in June and December.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports the widest possible global exchange of knowledge.

Publication Ethics Statement

This publication ethics statement applies to all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal, including the publisher, editors, reviewers (peer reviewers), and authors.

The principles of scientific publication ethics fundamentally uphold three core values:

  1. Neutrality, which means being free from conflicts of interest in the management of the publication process;
  2. Fairness, which means granting authorship only to those who have made appropriate contributions; and
  3. Integrity, which means ensuring that publications are free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism.

Responsibilities of the Publisher

The publisher of Jurnal Gema Keperawatan is responsible for:

  • Publishing manuscripts that have undergone editing, peer review, and layout processes in accordance with the standards of scientific journal publishing.
  • Ensuring academic freedom for editors and reviewers in carrying out their respective duties.
  • Protecting privacy, safeguarding intellectual property and copyright, and maintaining editorial independence.

Responsibilities of Editors

Editors of Jurnal Gema Keperawatan are responsible for:

  • Making decisions on manuscripts that are suitable for publication through editorial board meetings, based on applicable legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement, duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, and plagiarism.
  • Ensuring fairness in the review and acceptance of manuscripts by making publication decisions without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political ideology of the authors.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of all information related to submitted manuscripts, unless disclosure is authorized by the authors.
  • Ensuring that unpublished manuscripts are not used in the editors’ own research for personal benefit and are returned to the authors.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers (peer reviewers) of Jurnal Gema Keperawatan are responsible for:

  • Assisting editors in making editorial decisions regarding submitted manuscripts.
  • Being accountable for the recommendations provided for the manuscripts they review.
  • Conducting manuscript reviews objectively and supported by clear and well-reasoned arguments.
  • Evaluating the accuracy of citations and references, and identifying issues related to duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, and plagiarism.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of manuscript information and not using any information obtained during the review process for personal advantage or benefit.

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are required to:

  • Present manuscripts derived from their ideas or research clearly, honestly, and free from duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, and plagiarism.
  • Take full responsibility for the content and statements presented in their manuscripts.
  • Properly acknowledge and cite the opinions and works of others that are referenced.
  • Prepare manuscripts ethically, honestly, and responsibly, in accordance with applicable scientific writing standards.
  • Accept editorial revisions during the review and layout processes, provided that such revisions do not alter the substance or main ideas of the manuscript.

Plagiarism Screening

Jurnal Gema Keperawatan uses validated plagiarism detection software to screen all submitted manuscripts for potential plagiarism.

Copyright Transfer Agreement

Authors who publish with Jurnal Gema Keperawatan agree to the following terms:

  • Copyright of each article remains with the author(s).
  • Authors grant Jurnal Gema Keperawatan the right of first publication, with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License, which permits others to share and adapt the work with appropriate attribution and under the same license.
  • Authors are permitted to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the published version of the work (e.g., posting to an institutional repository or publishing it in a book), provided that the original publication in Jurnal Gema Keperawatan is properly acknowledged.

Journal History

JJurnal Gema Keperawatan was first published in 2012 in print format. Since 2018, the journal has been published in an electronic (e-journal) format.
