Focus and Scope
Jurnal Ilmu Gizi: Journal of Nutrition Science was developed to accommodate scientific works by students and lecturers, including research articles and scholarly papers based on literature studies, by emphasizing research ethics and the novelty of ideas.
Jurnal Ilmu Gizi: Journal of Nutrition Science accepts manuscripts derived from research findings or literature reviews focusing on the fields of nutrition and health, nutrition and food science, covering aspects of nutritional biochemistry, clinical nutrition, public health nutrition, functional foods, as well as nutrition information and food regulations.
Peer Review Process
Articles submitted to Jurnal Ilmu Gizi: Journal of Nutrition Science undergo the following review process:
- Peer Review by External Reviewers (Mitra Bestari)
The manuscript is reviewed by peer reviewers from outside the journal’s institution who have expertise relevant to the submitted article. The review process applies a blind peer review system, meaning that authors do not know the identity of the reviewers who evaluate their manuscripts. The final outcome of this stage is a RECOMMENDATION. - Editorial Review
The editorial board conducts an internal review and issues the final DECISION.
After receiving an “accepted” decision, the manuscript proceeds to the editing stage and subsequently to scheduling for publication in a designated volume and issue.
Publication Frequency
Jurnal Ilmu Gizi: Journal of Nutrition Science is the official publication of the Department of Nutrition, Poltekkes Kemenkes Denpasar, established in 2010.
The journal is published regularly four times a year:
- February
- May
- August
- November
Open Access Policy
This journal provides open access, ensuring that research articles are freely available to the public and supporting the broadest possible global exchange of knowledge.
Publication Ethics
This scientific code of ethics applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including publishers, editors, peer reviewers, and authors.
The Publication Ethics upholds three fundamental ethical principles:
- Neutrality – Free from conflicts of interest in publication management.
- Fairness – Proper acknowledgment of authorship to those who are entitled.
- Honesty – Free from duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, and plagiarism.
Publisher Responsibilities
The Publisher of Jurnal Ilmu Gizi: Journal of Nutrition Science is responsible for:
- Publishing manuscripts that have undergone editing, peer review, and layout processes in accordance with scientific journal standards.
- Ensuring academic freedom for editors and peer reviewers in performing their duties.
- Protecting privacy, intellectual property rights, copyright, and editorial independence.
Editor Responsibilities
Editors of Jurnal Ilmu Gizi: Journal of Nutrition Science are responsible for deciding which manuscripts are eligible for publication through editorial board meetings, in accordance with applicable legal requirements concerning defamation, copyright infringement, duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, and plagiarism.
During the review and acceptance process, the editorial team applies the principle of equal treatment without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political ideology.
Editors and the editorial team will not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts without the author’s permission. Unpublished manuscripts will not be used by editors for their own research purposes and will be returned directly to the authors.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Peer reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions regarding submitted manuscripts.
Reviewers are responsible for:
- Providing objective evaluations supported by clear arguments.
- Assessing citations, references, duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, and plagiarism.
- Maintaining confidentiality of manuscript information.
- Not using information obtained during the review process for personal benefit.
Author Responsibilities
Authors must:
- Present their research or scholarly work clearly, honestly, and without duplication, data fabrication, data falsification, or plagiarism.
- Be responsible for confirmations and statements related to their submitted manuscripts.
- Properly cite opinions and works of others.
- Write manuscripts ethically and responsibly in accordance with scientific writing standards.
- Agree to editorial revisions during the review and layout process, provided that the substance and main ideas are not altered.
Plagiarism Screening
Jurnal Ilmu Gizi: Journal of Nutrition Science uses validated software to screen manuscripts for plagiarism.
Copyright Transfer Agreement
Authors who publish in Jurnal Ilmu Gizi: Journal of Nutrition Science agree to the following terms:
- Copyright of each manuscript remains with the author.
- The journal holds the right of first publication under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).
- Authors may distribute the published work non-exclusively in other formats, provided that it is acknowledged that the manuscript was first published in Jurnal Ilmu Gizi: Journal of Nutrition Science.
Review Policy
The Review Policy of Jurnal Ilmu Gizi: Journal of Nutrition Science includes:
- Every submitted manuscript undergoes a review process.
- The review process applies a Single Blind Review system, meaning that reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and authors do not know the identity of the reviewers.
- Reviewers evaluate the consistency between the title, abstract, discussion (findings), and conclusion. They also assess novelty, scientific impact, and the quality of references used.
Journal History
Jurnal Ilmu Gizi is a national scientific journal publishing research articles in nutrition, dietetics, food, and health, including clinical nutrition, public health nutrition, sports nutrition, molecular nutrition, nutritional biochemistry, functional foods, as well as nutrition service and management.
The journal was published biannually in print from February 2010 to September 2017 (Volumes 1–16). Since February 2017 (Volume 17), JIG has been published biannually in an online version.
Jurnal Ilmu Gizi is published by the Department of Nutrition, Poltekkes Kemenkes Denpasar, in collaboration with the Indonesian Nutritionists Association (PERSAGI).
Since its establishment, JIG has been officially recognized as a scientific journal based on decrees issued by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia, and has been declared an Electronic Scientific Periodical based on the decree of the Directorate General of Research and Development Strengthening, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education.
These recognitions guarantee that JIG meets the quality standards established through evaluation by the Accreditation Team of Scientific Periodicals under the Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI).
Since September 2017, Jurnal Ilmu Gizi has been available online with ISSN (Online): __________, allowing authors and researchers easier access to published research findings.
JIG continues to invite authors to contribute articles, particularly contemporary research in the field of nutrition and health.
