Peer Review Process

Peer Review Policy of Jurnal Gema Keperawatan

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Gema Keperawatan undergo a rigorous screening and review process to ensure their relevance to the journal’s scope, as well as their academic quality and scientific novelty in the field of nursing. Jurnal Gema Keperawatan applies a double-blind peer review system, in which the authors do not know the identity of the reviewers who evaluate their manuscripts. The review process consists of the following stages:

  1. Initial Screening

Newly submitted manuscripts are first screened by the Editor to ensure compliance with submission requirements, and by one of the Editors-in-Chief to assess their suitability with the focus and scope of Jurnal Gema Keperawatan. Manuscripts that do not pass the initial screening will be rejected without further review.

  1. Peer Review Process

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to a handling editor, who then forwards the manuscript to at least two experts in the relevant field for a double-blind peer review.

  1. First Decision

A decision on the manuscript is made only after receiving a minimum of two peer review reports. At this stage, the manuscript may be rejected, returned to the authors for revision (major or minor), or accepted. If accepted, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for formatting adjustments. The final decision regarding manuscript acceptance is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on recommendations from the handling editor.

  1. Revision Stage

Manuscripts requiring revision are returned to the authors, who are given up to three weeks to revise and reformat the manuscript in accordance with the journal guidelines. Upon resubmission, the manuscript is reviewed by the handling editor to evaluate whether the revisions are adequate and whether the authors have properly addressed the reviewers’ comments and suggestions. If the revisions are deemed insufficient, the revision cycle will be repeated, and the manuscript will be returned to the authors for further revision.
