Pengaruh Penyuluhan Kesehatan Gigi dan Mulut dengan Metode Story Telling terhadap Tingkat Pengetahuan Pemeliharaan Kesehatan Gigi dan Mulut pada Siswa Sekolah Dasar

Oral health is an essential component of overall health. The high prevalence of oral health problems among elementary school children highlights the need for effective health promotion strategies. One educational method suitable for children is storytelling, which delivers health messages through engaging and easy-to-understand stories. This study aimed to determine the effect of oral health education using the storytelling method on the knowledge of oral health maintenance among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Nomor 3 Sukawati in 2026. This quantitative study employed a one-group pretest–posttest design. The population consisted of all 36 fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Nomor 3 Sukawati, and total sampling was applied. Data were collected using knowledge questionnaires administered before and after the educational intervention. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, paired t-test, and Cohen's d effect size analysis. The results showed that before the intervention, most students had a good level of knowledge (47.2%) with a mean score of 61.67 ± 11.24. After the storytelling-based oral health education, all participants (100%) achieved an excellent level of knowledge, with the mean score increasing to 95.97 ± 4.18. The paired t-test revealed a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (t = 18.72; p < 0.001).
