DIFFERENCES IN GINGIVITIS STUDENTS IN STATE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 3 GIANYAR AND KESUMA SARI JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL DENPASAR IN 2025

Abstract

Dental and oral diseases are one of the common diseases that develop in communities around the world. Although there are many types of dental and oral diseases, cavities or caries and periodontal disease are the main dental and oral problems in many countries. The purpose of analyzing and comparing the severity of gingivitis in SMP Negeri 3 Gianyar (State) and SMP Kesuma Sari Denpasar (private), in order to determine whether there is a significant difference in the severity of gingival inflammation. Method This type of research is observational analytic with a cross-sectional design. The study population was students at SMP Negeri 3 Gianyar and SMP Kesuma Sari Denpasar. Sampling using purposive sampling technique Research results The level of gingivitis in SMP Negeri 3 Gianyar with a healthy level of 6 (17%), Mild inflammation 20 (55%), Moderate inflammation 9 (25%), Severe inflammation 1 (3%), while in SMP Kesuma Sari Denpasar healthy 3 (10), Mild inflammation 5 (16%), Moderate inflammation 15 (48%), Severe inflammation 8 (26%). The results of the Chi-Square test found a significant relationship between school type and Gingival Index Criteria (Sig. ≤ 0.05). This shows that the severity of gingivitis in students of Public and Private Middle Schools is significantly different. The conclusion is that students of SMP Kesuma Sari Private tend to have higher levels of gingivitis than students of SMP Negeri 3 Gianyar.
