Proper toothbrushing habits among school-aged children remain inadequate, highlighting the need for engaging and effective educational media. TikTok videos have the potential to serve as an audiovisual medium for oral health education. Objective: This study aims to analyze the knowledge level and toothbrushing skills in fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 3 Sukawati using TikTok video media. Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 42 fifth-grade students selected using total sampling. Knowledge was assessed using a questionnaire, while toothbrushing skills were evaluated through an observation checklist. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The Shapiro-Wilk test indicated that the data were not normally distributed (p<0.05); therefore, differences between pretest and posttest scores were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.
Results: The mean knowledge score increased from 74.52 to 95.11, with an improvement of 20.59 points (27.6%). The mean toothbrushing skill score increased from 38.33 to 99.40, representing an improvement of 61.07 points (159.3%). The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed statistically significant differences between pretest and posttest scores for both knowledge (Z≈−5.59; p<0.001) and toothbrushing skills (Z≈−5.66; p<0.001). Cohen's d values of 1.73 for knowledge and 5.24 for skills indicated a very large intervention effect. Conclusion: TikTok video-based oral health education is effective in improving both knowledge and toothbrushing skills among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 3 Sukawati.
