Hubungan Tingkat Pengetahuan dan Tingkat Pendidikan dengan Karies pada Ibu PKK di Desa Awan Bangli

Globally, approximately 3.58 billion people suffer from dental health issues. Indonesia ranks second in Southeast Asia for dental healthcare expenditure. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge levels, education, and dental caries among PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment) members in Awan Village. A survey design was employed, targeting the entire PKK population of Awan Village (N=150). A sample of 60 respondents was selected using the Slovin formula and simple random sampling. Data on knowledge were collected through direct assessment using a 20-item questionnaire with four-choice answers regarding oral and dental health maintenance. Data were subsequently analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods, specifically the Chi-Square test. The results showed the following respondent characteristics: the largest age group was 25–35 years (45%), and the most common education level was low (47%). Regarding dental status, 88.3% of respondents had caries, while only 11.7% had healthy teeth; the mean caries score was 3.38. The highest incidence of caries was found among those with a secondary education level, and the majority of respondents fell into the "sufficient" category for caries-related knowledge. Chi-square analysis indicated a significant relationship between education level and oral and dental health knowledge. The conclusion of this research that, there is a significant relationship between education level and oral and dental health knowledge.
